Product Update

September was a landmark month as we turned 1—that's one year of building, iterating, and growing as we work towards the best app for couples to plan and manage money together.

Honestly, it was a big deal to us. We celebrated as a team, and it was also great to hear from a few of our users and partners who had a few things to say about their experience using heyFinance.

500 couples 🎉

On top of that, we reached 500 couples using heyFinance in September. Our plan is to take it one step at a time, but this is one milestone that meant so much to us. Amongst other things, it was a reminder that we're building something important for couples. And we're really grateful for your trust, the feedback, and all the kind words. We're not slowing down.

A new Instagram page for our users

We also launched an Instagram page just for our users, @heyfinance_tutorials. Its sole purpose is to share tips on how to get the best out of the app. We've uploaded 10 posts so far, so check it out, follow us, and let us know if there's anything specific you'd like us to cover.

Product updates

1. Debt tracking

You can now track debts on the app: you can add money that you owe, see how much you need to pay per month, and track your progress over time. You can also see how pending debts affect your net worth, so you have a more realistic view of how much you actually have.

2. Monthly reports (Spotify Wrapped-style)

At the beginning of every new month, you get a slide-by-slide recap of your activity for the previous month. You see how much you saved, where your money went, how that compares to previous months, your busiest days, and how it impacted your net worth. This is to help you plan adequately for the new month.

3. Recurring budgets

Previously, you always had to duplicate your budgets at the start of a new month. Now, you can make a budget recurring, and it automatically duplicates itself when the budget period ends.

And this is just the beginning of the updates we're bringing to the budget section. We're adding a clear savings section soon, and also the possibility to plan for any goals you have or debts you're paying off in your budget. The goal here is for your budgets to always be a source of truth for all your financial planning, so you always know where you stand.

4. Internal transfers

You can now easily mark a transaction as an internal transfer. This is very useful if you have multiple bank accounts/pockets connected and you frequently transfer money between them.

We automatically mark transactions as internal transfers if there's a matching time, amount, and description. You can review the ones we've marked, or mark a transaction as an internal transfer yourself. This prevents it from being double-counted as an expense/income.

Please let us know what you think about these updates, and as always, let us know what you want us to build in the Roadmap tab.

September was a great month for us. Thank you for your support. We're excited for the rest of the year.
