What's new? June 2026
June 2026 was a packed month. We got accepted into the Berlin Startup Scholarship, launched a free version of our app, built an income split simulator, and hosted our first couples event.
It was one of those months where we couldn't really catch a break — every week seemed to bring something new. Let's unpack them one by one.
Berlin Startup Scholarship
The month started for us in the best way possible — heyFinance was selected as part of the startups for the Berlin Startup Scholarship by HTW Berlin.
This is a great testament to the effort that has been put into building heyFinance so far, and it is also a huge reminder that we're solving a real problem.
The scholarship provides us access to funding as we continue to build, and also to a lot of mentorship and networking opportunities. We're really grateful to the HTW team, and also to our customers who have supported us thus far.
Free version launch
In June, we also released a FREE version of our app. Our goal with this was simple: we're building the best solution for couples to align on money and we want more couples to experience this.
With the FREE version, we tried to be very generous, to ensure couples can already align with each other regarding finances, plan their spending, track their financial goals, and even plan their personal spending separate from their joint spending. You upgrade when you want more. 😉
Income split simulator
After this, we worked on an income split simulator for couples. When a relationship starts, one of the biggest questions that come up is "how do we split expenses?" That is what this looks to solve.
We have a version on the website, where you enter you and your partner's incomes, your shared expenses, and your joint savings. Then you can see the different ways to split expenses — fixed percentage e.g 50/50, same percentage of income, or equal left over per partner.
This is really great because you also see what this means for both of you over 5, 10, and 20 years.
We also have a version on the app as well, where you can also propose an income split to your partner, agree on it, and save it to your heyFinance profile.
Our first event
And we ended the month in style — we hosted our first couples event. A couples money date by heyFinance. We had 5 couples together in Berlin to connect, have fun, and then, each couple went to their private room to talk about money.
It was a real date setting with candles, flowers, smooth jazz music, wine, and food. The couples had a great time, the team had a great time, and we can't wait to do the next one. 🤩
This is the message we received from one of the couples after the event:
Outlook
In summary, it was a packed month for us. Our priority as always was to serve our customers in the best way possible, as we continue to build the best solution for couples to align on money.
July is looking exciting already. I can't wait to share with you all the exciting things we're working on. But until then, have fun and have a beautiful month.
